The 59 Tweed 4x10 is an all-tube guitar amplifier based on the timeless Tweed Bassman design of the late 1950s.

Note: pricing varies depending on circuit component options and level of aging etc. Please get in touch to discuss specs for your dream amp. Current build time is around 4 months for new amp orders. Guide price shown here is for a high spec variant with 'New Old Stock' finish - see below for further details and check the photos for examples of Relic'd tweed finish.

The design brief for the 59 Tweed was to produce the highest quality edition of this classic amp utilising the finest components available and leaving no stone unturned in the quest for ultimate tone. This amp punches out 45 watts of pure tube tone through four 10 inch Alnico speakers - 2 Celestion Golds in the bottom row and two Eminence GA10-SC59s in the top (other speaker options available).

The circuit is built on a custom-made turret board for rock solid performance and utilises higher than standard spec 1 Watt Carbon Composition resistors for improved reliability and noise reduction, Jupiter Red Astron coupling capacitors, Sprague Atom electrolytics, F&T filter caps and cloth covered solid core signal wiring. The bias circuit has been upgraded to make adjustable and provides better filtering for reduced noise.

In this build we've also added a Master Volume in place of the unused 'Ground' switch which is no longer required with the modern grounded power supply wiring.

This amp features heavy duty US made iron by Pacific Audio Magnetics. We also have options for transformer sets from Mercury Magnetics and Soursound Audio Works.

The finger-jointed solid pine cabinet is modelled from vintage examples of the 1959 Tweed Bassman and has been meticulously crafted to provide many decades of first-class performance, just like the originals.

The classic tweed covering is first coated in Shellac, followed by multiple coats of Nitrocellulose Lacquer. From here we offer a few different levels of aging for the tweed and external hardware:

    • 'Factory Fresh' is effectively a brand new amp rolling off the factory floor with no additional aging.
    • 'New Old Stock' is how a 65 year old amp would appear that hasn't been in the heat of battle but shows the effects of time - the tweed takes on a darker tint and the external hardware highlights a soft patina.
    • 'Tweed Relics' are tastefully aged to provide anywhere from light use to road warrior status for your amp. The relicing process is carried out in stages with great care taken to produce an authentic vintage vibe that really adds to the tweed mystique without compromising the integrity of the amp and cabinet work. You get the tone and feel of first-class vintage amplifier without the baggage and little gremlins that can start to appear in old circuits with worn out components.

A fully enclosed padded canvas cover is included as standard.  These beautiful handmade covers are custom made for us and provide the best protection for your investment, short of a full on road case.
